JOSIE EARRINGS (©2023 Deborah Roberti) All you need are some Miyuki size 11/0 seed beads and IrisDuo beads to make these fun and easy earrings! Beads used in the photo above listed at the bottom of the pattern page. MATERIALS Step 1: Thread your needle with about a yard of FireLine. Leaving about a six-inch tail that you can weave in and cut at any time, string a Color1 seed bead, an IrisDuo, a Color1 seed bead, an IrisDuo, a Color1 seed bead, an IrisDuo, a Color1 seed bead, an IrisDuo, a Color1 seed bead, an IrisDuo, a Color1 seed bead, and IrisDuo, a Color1 seed bead, an IrisDuo, a Color1 seed bead and an IrisDuo. Tie the beads in a circle with a tight double knot, forming a ring of seed beads and IrisDuo beads: NOTE: IrisDuo beads have a rounded front side and a flat back side. Make sure that the front side is facing you when you add each IrisDuo bead. Step 2: Go back up through
the Color1 seed bead, the inside hole of the IrisDuo bead and Step 3: String a Color1 seed bead. Go around and back through the Color1 seed bead that you just exited (highlighted in RED). Make sure that the two Color1 seed beads are stacked next to each other. You may have to position them with your fingers to get them in place: Step 4: Go through the inside hole of the next IrisDuo and Color1 seed bead on the ring (highlighted in RED): Step 5: String a Color1 seed bead. Go around and back through the Color1 seed bead that you just exited (highlighted in RED), making sure that the two Color1 seed beads are stacked: Step 6: Go through the inside hole of the next IrisDuo and Color1 seed bead on the ring (highlighted in RED): Step 7: String a Color1 seed bead. Go around and back through the Color1 seed bead that you just exited (highlighted in RED), making sure that the two Color1 seed beads are stacked. Continue through the inside hole of the next IrisDuo and Color1 seed bead on the ring (highlighted in RED): Step 8: String a Color1 seed bead. Go around and back through the Color1 seed bead that you just exited (highlighted in RED), making sure that the two Color1 seed beads are stacked next to each other. Continue through the inside hole of the next IrisDuo and Color1 seed bead on the ring (highlighted in RED): Step 9: Repeat Step 8: Step 10: Repeat Step 8: Step 11: Repeat Step 8: Step 12: Repeat Step 8: Step 13: Go through the inside hole of the next IrisDuo bead and Color1 seed bead on the ring, and then go around through the Color1 seed bead above the Color1 seed bead that you just exited (all beads highlighted in RED): Step 14: String a Color1 seed bead and go through the outside hole of the IrisDuo bead highlighted in RED: Step 15: String a Color1 seed bead and go through the outer Color1 seed bead in the pair of stacked Color1 seed beads (highlighted in RED): Step 16: String a Color1 seed bead and go through the outside hole of the next IrisDuo bead on the ring (highlighted in RED). String a Color1 seed bead and go through the outer Color1 seed bead in the next pair of stacked Color1 seed beads (highlighted in RED): Step 17: String a Color1 seed bead and go through the outside hole of the next IrisDuo bead on the ring (highlighted in RED). String a Color1 seed bead and go through the outer Color1 seed bead in the next pair of stacked Color1 seed beads (highlighted in RED): Step 18: Repeat Step 17 all the way around the ring: Step 19: Go back down through the Color1 seed bead, the outer hole of the IrisDuo bead and the Color1 seed bead highlighted in RED: Next you will add Color2 seed beads in the gap between the outer ring of Color1 seed beads. Step 20: String a Color2 seed bead. Go through the Color1 seed bead, the outer hole of the IrisDuo and the Color1 seed bead highlighted in RED. The Color 2 seed bead should snap in between the two Color1 seed beads but if it does not, position it in place with your fingers as you pull through: Step 21: String a Color2 seed bead. Go through the next Color1 seed bead, the outer hole of the IrisDuo and the Color1 seed bead on the ring (highlighted in RED), positioning the Color2 seed bead in place if need be as you pull through: Step 22: String a Color2 seed bead. Go through the next Color1 seed bead, the outer hole of the IrisDuo and the Color1 seed bead on the ring (highlighted in RED), positioning the Color2 seed bead in place if need be as you pull through: Step 23: Repeat Step 22 all the way around the ring: Step 24: Go back around through the outer ring of seed beads and outer holes of the IrisDuo beads highlighted in RED: Step 25: Go back around through the outer ring of seed beads and outer holes of the IrisDuo beads highlighted in RED to exit from the top Color2 bead: Step 26: To attach your earring to a closed jump ring, string two Color1 seed beads and a Color2 seed bead. Go around through your jump ring and then back down through the Color2 seed bead that you just added. String two more Color1 seed beads. Go back across through the Color2 seed bead that you exited at the beginning of this step (highlighted in RED): Go back around through the beads that you just added and the jump ring using the same thread path. Weave in, knot and cut your thread. Optional: To attach your earring to a Beadsmith Bead Ending Cymbal Element, string a Color1 seed bead and a Color2 seed bead. Go around through the bottom loop of the Cymbal Element. String a Color2 seed bead and a Color1 seed bead. Go back across through the Color2 seed bead that you exited at the beginning of this step (highlighted in RED): Go back around through the beads that you just added and the Cymbal Element using the same thread path. Weave in, knot and cut your thread.
