STARGAZER EARRINGS (©2025 Deborah Roberti)
Bead up some dainty little stars using size 11/0 and 8/0 seed beads and SuperDuo beads that you can attach to closed jump rings, small lengths of chain or BeadSmith Sitia Cymbal Elements for some fun and easy earrings! MATERIALS: Step 1: Thread your needle with about two feet of FireLine. Leaving about a 6-inch tail that you can weave in and cut later, string ten SuperDuo beads. Tie these SuperDuo beads in a circle with a tight double knot, forming a ring of ten SuperDuo beads: Step 2: Go up through the inside hole of the two SuperDuo beads above your knot (highlighted in RED): Step 3: Go around and down through the outside hole of the SuperDuo bead that you just exited (highlighted in RED): Step 4: String an 8/0 seed bead and go through the outside hole of the next SuperDuo bead on the ring (highlighted in RED): Step 5: Repeat the last step, adding 8/0 seed beads between each of the outside holes of the SuperDuo beads in the ring (highlighted in RED): Step 6: Go back around through this outer ring of 8/0 seed beads and SuperDuo beads highlighted in RED: Step 7: Go back down through the beads highlighted in RED: Step 8: String four Color1 11/0 seed beads. Go across though the 8/0 seed bead, the outside hole of the SuperDuo bead and the 8/0 seed bead highlighted in RED: Step 9: String four Color1 11/0 seed beads. Go up though the 8/0 seed bead, the outside hole of the SuperDuo bead and the 8/0 seed bead highlighted in RED: Step 10: String four Color1 11/0 seed beads. Go up though the 8/0 seed bead, the outside hole of the SuperDuo bead and the 8/0 seed bead highlighted in RED: Step 11: String four Color1 11/0 seed beads. Go down though the 8/0 seed bead, the outside hole of the SuperDuo bead and the 8/0 seed bead highlighted in RED: Step 12: String four Color1 11/0 seed beads. Go down though the beads highlighted in RED: Next you will add Color2 11/0 seed beads at the tip of each star arm. You can, of course, just use more Color1 11/0 seed beads. Step 13: String a Color2 11/0 seed bead. Go across through the beads highlighted in RED, pulling tight so that the Color2 11/0 seed bead that you just strung sits below and a little between the two Color1 11/0 seed beads above, forming a bit of a point: Step 14: String a Color2 11/0 seed bead. Go up through the beads highlighted in RED, pulling tight so that the Color2 11/0 seed bead that you just strung sits below and a little between the two Color1 11/0 seed beads above, forming a bit of a point: Step 15: String a Color2 11/0 seed bead. Go up through the beads highlighted in RED, pulling tight so that the Color2 11/0 seed bead that you just strung sits beside and a little between the two adjacent Color1 11/0 seed beads, forming a bit of a point: Next I have included instructions on attaching your motif to a closed jump ring, a length of chain or a BeadSmith Sitia Cymbal bead ending. Step 16: To attach your motif to a closed jump ring, string a Color2 11/0 seed bead. Go around through your jump ring and then back down through this same Color2 11/0 seed bead. Continue back down through the beads highlighted in RED: To attach your motif to a length of chain, string a Color2 11/0 seed bead. Go around through your chain link and then back down through this same Color2 11/0 seed bead. Continue back down through the beads highlighted in RED: To attach your motif to a BeadSmith Sitia Cymbal bead ending, go through the bottom loop of the Cymbal and then continue back down through the beads highlighted in RED: There are probably other BeadSmith Cymbal Elements or similar findings that would also work wonderfully, too. Step 17: String a Color2 11/0 seed bead. Go down through the beads highlighted in RED, pulling tight so that the Color2 11/0 seed bead that you just strung sits beside and a little between the two adjacent Color1 11/0 seed beads, forming a bit of a point: Step 18: Go back around through the outer beads highlighted in RED and your jump ring (or chain loop or BeadSmith Sitia Cymbal bead ending), pulling tight to stiffen the motif: Weave into the motif and cut your thread.
