CRISSCROSS BRACELET

An easy right angle weave tutorial, using size 11/0 seed beads and pretty much any type of 4mm bead you prefer. This pattern was updated in 2025 to include substitution instructions for using larger beads—size 8/0 seed beads and size 6mm beads!

MATERIALS (for a 7-inch bracelet, not including clasp)
• 5 yards of 6 lb. FireLine
• About 300 size 11/0 seed beads
• About 156 size 4mm beads (bicone crystal beads, fire-polished beads, round beads
or most any size 4mm bead)
• clasp

Step 1: Thread your needle with a length of FireLine that you feel comfortable working with and add more as you need it.

String a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead and a 4mm bead. Leaving about a 12-inch tail for attaching one end of your clasp, tie the beads in a circle with a double knot:

Step 2: Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED:

Step 3: String three seed beads.

Go around and back down through the seed bead you that exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED), forming a picot of four seed beads:

Go back around through this picot of beads (highlighted in RED) and pull tight:

Step 4: Go back around through the 4mm bead, the seed bead, the 4mm bead and the seed bead highlighted in RED:

Step 5: String three seed beads.

Go around and back up through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED), forming another picot of four seed beads:

Go back around through this picot of beads (highlighted in RED) and pull tight:

Step 6: Go through the next two seed beads on the picot (highlighted in RED):

Step 7: String a 4mm bead, a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead and a 4mm bead.

Go around and back down through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

To add some extra strength to your bracelet, go back around through the beads that you just added (highlighted in RED):

Step 8: Go back around through the 4mm bead, the seed bead, the 4mm bead and the seed bead highlighted in RED:

Step 9: String three seed beads.

Go around and back up through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED), forming another picot of four seed beads:

Go back around through this picot of beads (highlighted in RED) and pull tight:

Step 10: Go back up through the 4mm bead and the seed bead above (highlighted in RED):

You’ve just created Row 1 of the bracelet.

Step 11: Flip the bracelet over horizontally so that you can continue to work left to right, which is how the directions are written:

Step 12: To begin Row 2, string a 4mm bead, a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead and a 4mm bead.

Go around and back across through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Go back around through the beads that you just added (highlighted in RED):

Step 13: Go back around through the 4mm bead, the seed bead, the 4mm bead, the seed bead, the 4mm bead and the seed bead above (highlighted in RED):

Step 14: String three seed beads.

Go around and back down through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED), forming another circle of four seed beads:

Go back around through this picot of beads (highlighted in RED) and pull tight:

Step 15: Go back around through the 4mm bead, the seed bead, the 4mm bead and the seed bead below (highlighted in RED):

Step 16: String three seed beads.

Go around and back up through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED), forming another picot of four seed beads:

Go back around through this picot of beads (highlighted in RED) and pull tight:

Step 17: Go through the next two seed beads on the picot (highlighted in RED):

Step 18: String a 4mm bead.

Go across through the rightmost top seed bead on the row below (highlighted in RED):

Step 19: String a 4mm bead, a seed bead, a 4mm bead, a seed bead and a 4mm bead.

Go around and down through the rightmost seed bead on the top middle picot (highlighted in RED):

Step 20: Go back around through the 4mm bead, the seed bead, the 4mm bead and the seed bead below (highlighted in RED):

Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED:

Step 21: String three seed beads.

Go around and back up through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED), forming another picot of four seed beads:

Go back around through this picot of beads (highlighted in RED) and pull tight:

Step 22: Go back up through the 4mm bead and the seed bead above (highlighted in RED):

You’ve just created the next row. You will repeat Steps 12 to 23 to create additional rows next.

Step 23: Flip the bracelet over horizontally so that you can continue to work left to right, which is how the directions are written:

Step 24: Repeat Step 12 to 23 until your bracelet is as long as you want, minus about a half-inch and the length of your clasp:

Step 25: To attach the clasp, go around through the 4mm bead, the top seed bead on the middle picot and the 4mm bead highlighted in RED:

Step 26: String a seed bead, a 4mm bead and two seed beads. Go through the clasp and then back down through the seed bead that you just strung:

NOTE: To make your bracelet longer, just add more beads than directed in this step and the next.

Step 27: String a seed bead, a 4mm bead and a seed bead.

Go back across through the 4mm bead, the top seed bead on the middle picot and the 4mm bead highlighted in RED:

Step 28: Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED and the clasp several times:

Weave back into the bracelet, knot in several places and then cut your thread.

Step 29: To attach the clasp to the other end of your band, thread your needle with the tail thread from Step 1.

Go around through the beads highlighted in RED and repeat Step 26 to 28:

Super-sized version

MATERIALS
(for about a 7-inch bracelet, not including clasp)
• 5 yards of 8 lb. FireLine
• About 200 size 8/0 seed beads
• About 100 size 6mm beads (bicone crystal beads, fire-polished beads, round beads or most any size 6mm bead)
• clasp

Substitution Instructions
Repeat Step 1 to Step 29 with the following substitutions:
• Instead of 6 lb. FireLine, use 8lb. FireLine.
• Instead of size 11/0 seed beads, use size 8/0 seed beads.
• Instead of size 4mm beads, use size 6mm beads.
